Belmont Youth Hockey
I. Call to order
December 6, 2010
A regular meeting of the Belmont Youth Hockey Association (BYHA) was called to order at 6:30 p.m. on December 6, 2010 in the Staff Room at the Belmont Public Library.
II. Roll call
The following board members were present: Jeff Brody, Jim Brown, Roman Chicz, Curtis Cole, Doug McLaughlin, Paul Miller, Joe Noone, Bob Pomer, Brian Quirk, and Kim Rocha. Absent from the meeting: Jeff Carbeck, Jim Finn, Dan O’Connell, Steve Nally and Tricia Reggio.
III. Approval of minutes from last meetings
The minutes from the November regular board meeting were accepted.
IV. Mite Instructional League
We discussed a potential opening in the Flynn Mite Instructional League in light of a team from another town dropping out.
V. Rink Storage Proposal
We discussed and approved an opportunity to build a secure fenced space at the Belmont rink to store certain on ice equipment. We also discussed an opportunity to build an expanded trophy case at the rink.
VI. ADM Model
USA Hockey has indicted that mite hockey will be cross hockey next year. It is unclear at this time if Mite As will be required to do so. We will monitor the situation closely.
VII. Mass Hockey Update
We discussed the status of play downs and where BYHA teams have been slotted and ranked.
VIII. Girls Program Parents Meeting
In keeping with our commitment to closely monitor the girls program and its merger with Watertown, we discussed holding a meeting with the parents of the girls program to check in and gauge how the program is going in light of the merger with Watertown. We will strive to hold this meeting on Thursday, December 16.
IX. Board Member Terms
We discussed the status of board members whose terms are set to expire, and the need to account for turnover and succession planning.
X. Tournament Update
Every boys team is registered to participate in the Arlington holiday tournament. We also discussed other possible tournaments. We will communicate a reminder to the membership that the association generally pays for one local tournament for each team, and that the cost is $50 per player for any additional local tournament. (There may be additional costs for tournaments that require traveling or other unexpected costs, such as a team that chooses to travel to Lake Placid.)
XI. Member Meeting Planning
We are planning to hold a full member meeting on January 11, 2011 in the Assembly Room at the Belmont Public Library. A notice will be sent to the full membership.
We discussed and approved having the second session of the Mini Marauder program register and pay using our new on-line payment system, in which payment must be made by credit card on the website.
